What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is a procedure where a sclerosing solution is injected into the treatable veins.
This sclerosing solution causes irritation to the walls of the veins and over the next 6 weeks, will cause the treated vein to fade.
What causes spider veins?
Spider veins are a nuisance to many adults, often preventing the wearing of shorts or skirts.
Incidence increases with age and are the result of genetics and/or the environment.
- If anyone on a person's maternal side has veins, then that person is likely to have spider veins as well.
- Prolonged standing for hours at a time.
- Pregnancy which increases pressure on a woman's circulation.
How many treatments are needed?
One to six or more treatments may be needed the average is three to four treatments for optimal results.
